Sound Division in the
Pink with Laurent-Perrier
Over the years, the Laurent-Perrier Pink Party
has generated a reputation of being one of London's
"hot tickets" on the party circuit.
The Pink Party 2005 was recently held in the Long
Bar and Spoon at the Sanderson hotel in aid of
the Prince's Trust, where London's glitterati
were treated to buckets of Laurent-Perrier rose
champagne and foie gras. Celebrities spotted boogying
away until the wee hours included Will Young,
David Ginola, Lady Emily Crompton, model (and
more famously, Kylie's ex) James Gooding and presenter
Kirsty Gallacher amongst others. Sound and lighting
experts Sound Division were called in to provide
the PA, DJ system and lighting effects.
Sound Division's Chris Baxter specified three
pairs of ElectroVoice Sx300 loudspeakers in white
positioned at intervals down the length of the
aptly named Long Bar and a separate dancefloor
system comprising four stacks of JBL SRX cabinets
driven by C-Audio Pulse power amplifiers. A further
pair of EV Sx300s run through a Mackie mixer on
a separate feed handled coverage of the outdoor
terrace. The DJ booth was furnished with industry
standard equipment throughout including Technics
turntables, an Allen & Heath Xone 62 DJ mixer
and a Denon DN4000 CD player.
However, possibly the most important aspect of
the evening was the lighting effects. As Chris
Baxter put it, "It wasn't a Pink Party for
nothing! All the décor was pink, the 'red'
carpet was pink, and of course, most importantly,
the champagne was pink, so it naturally, all our
lighting effects needed to support this theme.
In fact, we achieved it in an extremely simple,
yet effective manner by placing PAR 64 500w uplighters
with bright pink gels throughout the Long Bar
and reception area. The results were, well –
pink! The event looked and sounded great, the
client was delighted, so everyone had a good night."
