Sound Division treat HP
at The Hospital Hewlett-Packard International held a high-profile
Enterprise Solutions press conference at The Hospital,
Covent Garden recently, for which Sound Division
were contracted to provide the sound and staging.
The Hospital is the state-of-the-art complex
for creative industry collaboration in the UK.
Funded by American investor Paul G. Allen, the
facility, situated in the heart of London’s
Covent Garden, includes Europe's first high-definition
television studio, cutting-edge audio recording
and mixing studios, a multi-use exhibit and art
gallery restaurant and private members club (visit
The Hospital online at www.thehospital.co.uk).
Attended by 38 journalists spanning 15 countries,
and geared to promote HP’s StorageWorks
Portfolio Expansion and Enterprise Security partnership,
the London-based sales and rental company also
provided the staging and multimedia resources
to enable a full Powerpoint presentation to be
made via the two 61in and three 50in plasma screens.
The feeds were processed and routed via content
scalers, switchers and scan converters contained
in the equipment rack, while a further 42in plasma
screen was sited in the Forest Room, which was
used as a break-out area.
Staging, also supplied by Sound Division, was
in the form of a white-carpeted 18ft x 12ft Steeldeck,
equipped with a lectern. While the stage was illuminated
with eight lanterns the remainder of the Gallery,
including the back of the stage, were uplit by
24 chrome PAR 64’s, fitted with a variety
of coloured gels.
The sound was mixed on a Mackie console and reinforced
through Electro-Voice speaker columns.
